In the wild, this wader can be identified by its frog-like mating croak. iittala's master glassblowers skillfully work the glass to produce the birds brownish, brindled coloring, which is capped at one end by a pointy beak and at the other with a thick, clear tail. These birds get their English name from their ability to turn their heads almost 180 degrees and can be found hunting for ants and other insects in Europe and Asia.
This year's campaign bird: only available in 2007.
Eurasian Wryneck carries the artist's name and the location of iittala's famous glassworks on its base: O Toikka Nuutajrvi. The glassworks at Nuutajrvi Finland has been producing mouth blown glass for over 200 years.
